Firstly, we here on the TARDIS in no way, shape, or form condone sexism, or any form of discrimination whatsoever. Secondly, if you look back on our feed, we post pictures of both men and women found in Doctor Who. Thirdly, as to what Mimi said, the women posing in these photos are people who chose to do these photos. I find it wonderful that they have the confidence to present their sexuality, and that should be embraced. That is female empowerment. Lastly, please remember the golden rule of tumblr. Our blog, we decide what content comes on it.
That is all. We apologize for this second interruption, and again return you to your regularly schedule program.
Anonymous asked: the pictures you've been spamming of small role females have been very sexist/women-as-an-object. I hate seeing that on my dash.
As the only female member of the TARDIS, I felt a bit compelled to answer this before my male counterparts got to it. I didn’t didn’t want the blog to become a focus of debate either.
On one hand, I didn’t want it to sound like we were denying the presence of male privilege in this world. I’m sure all of us have been peeved by certain comments of Steven Moffat as well. I know I have. And honestly, we do probably need to spam you guys with more pictures of topless males. I mean, there have been no shortages of pictures of John Barrowman without his shirt.
On the other, why can’t a woman look sexy without being an object? And if she wants to look like a sex object, then who’s to say she’s wrong? As a woman who might like to dress up all sexy more than once in a while, I take offense to people who maybe just can’t leave me to my business. The word here is respect. People who treat you as a sex object without your consent might not be the best people in the world to hang out with. Personally, the willingness of some men and women to lay themselves bare is something that I consider a proof of their strength, not of their weakness as “sex objects”.
And anon, unfortunately, you have little sway on what we decide to post. :) Thank you and have a good day. We now go back to your regularly scheduled programming.
